MORAVIA PARATORE
My story
Moravia Paratore was born in Mirabella Imbaccari, “Municipality of tombolo”, a little town in the heart of Sicily. Here the bobbin is part of the history of every family, also of her own, it is like a “home” object that connects the generations.
BOBBIN WORKING
The tools of the trade
The bobbin lace is a very precious handmade threadwork. The word “tombolo” indicates both the lace itself and the instrument with which it is made: a cylindrical pillow stuffed with straw.

HISTORY OF THE BOBBIN LACE
From the mainland to the Municipality
of Tombolo
The processing of bobbin lace is an ancient technique, widespread throughout Italy and beyond. So ancient that we speak of bone spindles found in Etruscan tombs; so widespread that its origin is contended by several countries of Italy, Germany, France and, of course, of Flanders.
